The workbench behind the website

Much of our work is in older houses, where the doors have settled, the frames are not quite square and the hardware has been changed three or four times over the decades. We like these jobs.

They ask for judgement rather than a catalogue number: how to fit a modern deadbolt to a door that was never drilled for one, how to keep a period handle while making the lock behind it dependable. Our technicians carry the shims, fillers and odd-sized parts these houses need, and they take the time to get the alignment right. The result is a door that closes with one hand and locks without a shove, which is what an old house deserves.

Disassembled brass and steel lock cylinder parts laid on a gray metal surface with small brass pins, springs and tweezers.
Brass pull handle on a long rectangular plate with a keyhole, mounted on a black paneled door beside a white frame.

Because a door should simply work.

Before anything comes out of the van, we ask what you are trying to achieve. A family that has just moved in wants every stranger's key to stop working. A landlord wants the next turnover to be easier. A shop owner wants to know who opened the back door at nine. The right hardware follows from that answer, not the other way around.

The key you reach for. The door you come home to. Good locksmith work begins with understanding how you use them.

  • You know what is happening. From the first look to the last turn of the key, we narrate the job in plain terms. You should never wonder what we are doing to your door.
  • Suggestions, not pressure. If we think an upgrade would help, we say so once and explain why. If you decline, that is the end of it.
  • The old parts handled. Removed locks and keys are given to you or taken away as you prefer. Old keys that no longer work are worth destroying, and we will do that if you like.

How a visit goes

Describe the property, the hardware and what has changed, and the visit starts from what you have seen.

    01

    Walking the building together

We visit each door on the plan and talk about who uses it, how often and at what hours. Wiring routes and power are checked at the same time.

  2. Illustration: the van outside the house, a photo ID card by the front door, then the options laid out and one chosen

    02

    Installing readers and locks

Readers, electric strikes or maglocks and the controller go in with cables hidden where the building allows. Every door is tested for release and re-locking.

  3. Illustration: a key turned in the deadbolt of the front door, with a check mark beside it

    Setting up users and handover

We add the first users, show your administrator how to add and remove people, and leave written notes so the system is yours to run.
